Embedding a Librarian in your D2L Course

What does the embedded librarian do?

  • The librarian is assigned to your class and is added to your D2L course.
  • The librarian reviews your assignments/due dates and creates a research guide, directing students to the best resources for the assignment.
  • The librarian answers research questions in discussion boards, via email or by phone.
  • In addition, students can schedule one-on-one research appointments with a librarian (in person or via webex).
  • The librarian helps students develop search strategies and narrow/broaden research topics.
  • The librarian can provide videos, webinars, and interactive tutorials.
  • The librarian can also offer a live library research presentation for your class.

Library Instruction/Research Appointments

Navigate Reports

If you offer extra credit to students for attending a webinar or attending a research appointment with a librarian, we can report the attendance in Navigate.

Step 1: Request an Embedded Librarian be added to your course.

Step 2: Tell the librarian you are offering extra credit and that you want it reported in Navigate.
