TTC Library Services for Faculty

General Information

The Trident Technical College Library staff offer a reserve service that provides temporary access to limited resources.  These resources may be original library or personally-owned resources. All reserve materials must contain a notice of copyright and comply with federal copyright laws and restrictions. Institutional faculty and staff are required to adhere to the TTC policy for Duplication and Use of Copyrighted Material.

Resources may be in various formats, including books, DVDs, VHS tapes, audiocassettes, magazines, and journals; however, reference books should not generally be placed on reserve. Additionally, consumable resources such as workbooks and standardized tests may not be photocopied.

Photocopies and copyright

·    Repetitive photocopying over multiple semesters requires written permission from the copyright owner.

·    Per copyright rules, consumables (ex. workbooks, standardized tests) cannot be copied.

Textbooks on Course Reserve

The TTC library does not have textbooks in the collection.  However, faculty might consider placing a personal copy of a textbook (or additional course related books or materials) on reserve so that students can check out them out.

Course Reserves are checked out for 2 hours of in-library use only.

To place an item on reserve, please fill out the form below and bring the item into the library. If you have any questions, please contact the library.

Steps for Placing Items on Reserve

Questions and Comments regarding Library Reserves should be directed to Lillie Robinson at (843) 574-6316 or lillie.robinson@tridenttech.edu.

Faculty are asked to read the Reserve Process and complete the Reserve Request Form.

End of Semester

The library reserve service is intended to provide temporary access to limited resources. At the end of each semester, the library staff requests each instructor review his/her Reserve material. Reserves that are not renewed and/or within compliance of copyright will be taken off reserve and returned through campus mail either on the faculty-provided end date or at the end of the semester. All library owned reserve materials will be returned to the general library collection and personal resources will be returned to the faculty member or to the faculty member’s department.
